News, Tech News

Recently my curiosity was piqued when i heard a rumor about a possible Tablet PC from Apple. My BING/Google Search result did not reveal much about any such product from Apple but i did stumble upon something that is definitely worth sharing about. One of the top results in my search was a link to Axiotron who are the makers of ModBook. My curiosity paid off as it was a pleasant surprise to find out about this Innovative Product.

According to Axiotron , ModBook is the first and only slate-style tablet Mac Solution available .In the Simplest form of explanation a Modbook is an existing Apple MacBook that is modified into a Tablet PC.This modification is primarily a change in the display while the rest of MacBook is unscathed in this process. Every ModBook starts as a MacBook on the Axiotron assembly line where the existing display screen is removed, keyboard is dismantled, a brand new widescreen LCD is installed within a satin chrome tri-metal plated magnesium top shel and voila! you have a shiny new ModBook Tablet ready to be Flaunted. The wide screen display is protected by chemically strengthened Axiotron ForceGlass, and is resistant to scratches and breaking or for that matter even the predictable Coffee spills.
Axiotron’s ModBook features Wacom Penabled hardware, the same high quality technology that makes Wacom Tablets the preferred choice for professional artists, designers, photographers, and consumers alike. The ModBook’s Digitizer Pen is responsive (133 position updates per second), accurate (20x display resolution) and with 512 levels, provides the highest pressure sensitivity in any mobile computer system on the market. Its important to mention here that ModBook is not a touchscreen display, it uses a stylus that works on radio-based digitizer technology which allows users to draw while their hand is resting on the screen and control the cursor while the pen is hovering over the screen, providing for an intuitive, mouse-like interface .

Compared to the best Tablet PC available, the ModBook’s entry configuration sports the fastest Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 1.8 GHz, complete with a spacious 60 GB hard disk, the fastest 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, integrated iSight camera and CD/DVD combo. With upgrade options such as a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a whopping 200 GB of internal hard disk space and another 200 GB can be added externally, up to 3 GB of RAM, an internal 6x DVD Dual-Layer/CD burner, built-in Global Positioning System and weighing a meager 5.3 pounds, the Axiotron ModBook is simply in a class of its own

If you are enticed by the ModBook then you can get your existing MacBook modified or buy a new ModBook through Other World Computings . Keep in mind that because such Modification voids the standard Apple warranty, Axiotronics provides a one year manufacturer warranty or two year extended warranty plan. Get more information here
